Unfortunately, we have been in contact with Town officials since yesterday and this morning LYSC, in addition to all local youth organizations, have been officially notified that the Town of Lynnfield is requiring a two week pause in all organized youth activities. The correspondence is linked below.
We wanted to take a moment to express to you that this has nothing to do directly with LYSC, how we have structured or executed our sessions. In fact, through last night, they remain the standard for organized youth sport activities within the guidance provided. We are very proud of the work our coaches and volunteers have done and the cooperative spirit and excitement exhibited by our players and parents. Unfortunately, cases are up significantly in the Town over the last few days and they are now tracing back to youth activities that took place last weekend in Lynnfield. While not all positive cases are the result of the activities, the contact tracing, compiled with school and state guidance on quarantine and isolation, have resulted in multiple children and subsequently their families being impacted.
Town officials will continue to monitor this and have informed us that they will open the fields for organized play should the statistics and situation improve.
We will provide additional information as it becomes available.
